When I connect my piano to PianoRemote via Bluetooth MIDI, I'm asked to update the firmware — what should I do?
This usually indicates a connection issue, not a genuine firmware requirement. Restart both devices first. Check the Kawai website if the issue persists.
A Firmware Update Required message may appear when the PianoRemote app is unable to establish a stable connection with the piano. In many cases, the problem can be resolved simply by restarting your smartphone or tablet and/or turning the piano off and back on again.
If restarting does not resolve the issue, visit the Software Updates section of the Kawai support website to check whether a firmware update is available for your model that addresses app connectivity.
If you do proceed with a firmware update, keep the piano powered on for the entire duration of the update process and do not disconnect the Bluetooth or USB connection.
