How can I use the PianoRemote app to record my Kawai piano?
PianoRemote supports SMF (MIDI) recording via Bluetooth MIDI, and WAV/FLAC/AAC recording using the device's built-in microphone.
The PianoRemote app supports two recording methods, configurable from the Recorder menu.
SMF (MIDI): Captures key and pedal presses as MIDI data over a Bluetooth MIDI or USB-MIDI connection. Recorded data can be shared as a .mid file. This method captures performance data only — not the piano's audio.
WAV/FLAC/AAC: Captures audio using the device's built-in microphone. The recording will include ambient room sounds. Audio quality depends on your device's microphone hardware. To record only the piano's audio, connect an external audio interface to your device and connect the piano's Line Out to that interface.
Note: It is not currently possible to record the piano's audio directly as WAV/FLAC via Bluetooth. Bluetooth MIDI only transmits MIDI data, and Bluetooth Audio is receive-only.
